Georgia Burn Bans is an independent reference site that helps Georgia residents check burn ban status for all 159 counties. This site is not affiliated with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC), or any county or local government.

What We Publish Automatically

The only status we publish automatically is Georgia EPD's annual summer open burning ban, which covers 54 counties each year from May 1 through September 30. This rule is published by EPD and does not change county by county during the season.

What We Monitor but Do Not Auto-Publish

GFC burn permit availability, fire danger ratings, red flag weather warnings, and county-level temporary restrictions are tracked as review signals, not automatically published as a county burn ban. These conditions can change quickly and vary by fire district, so we link directly to the official GFC and county sources instead of guessing at a status. Why We Draw This Line

Burn ban information affects real decisions, including fines and safety risk. We would rather tell you clearly what is confirmed by an official annual rule versus what needs verification with GFC, EPD, or a local fire official, than guess and be wrong.
